DAVID S. JOSEPH
Chairman & CEO, Othera Pharmaceuticals

Mr. Joseph is a Co-Founder of Othera with a thirty-year career of highly successful entrepreneurship and management in ophthalmics and medical technology. He retired as Chairman and Director of Orthovita (NASDAQ:VITA), a company he co-founded, where he also served as President and CEO. Prior to Orthovita, he co-founded two medical device companies, Surgical Laser Technologies, Inc., and SITE Microsurgical Systems, acquired by Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Joseph served as a member of the board of directors of Animas Corporation, recently acquired by Johnson & Johnson, since its founding. He has also served as a board member at Morphotek, Inc., TLC Vision and HTH Worldwide. Mr. Joseph received the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group Raymond Rafferty Entrepreneurial Excellence Award in May 2005 for having founded four successful venture-backed companies and for his influence on the ophthalmic and medical-technology industries.

KATHERINE D. CROTHALL, Ph.D.
Founder and Former President & CEO, Animas Corporation

Dr. Crothall founded Animas Corporation, which develops, manufactures, and commercializes insulin pumps for people with diabetes, in 1996. During her 10-year term as the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Crothall led Animas through a successful IPO in 2004, and an acquisition by Johnson & Johnson for $518 million in February 2006. Prior to Animas, Dr. Crothall founded Luxar Corporation, and was its President and Chief Executive Officer from 1988 through 1993. Luxar sold and manufactured CO2 lasers for cosmetic, surgical, and dental applications. Dr. Crothall also founded and served as President of Laakmann Electro-Optics, which manufactured thermal imaging systems and CO2 lasers for the medical, aerospace, and industrial markets, and was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 1981. She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. She is currently a principal of Liberty Venture Partners.

CAROL A. MARINO
Vice President, Venture Investments, Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation

Ms. Marino currently serves as Vice President, Venture Investments at Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation. She brings over twenty-five years of biopharmaceutical industry experience in the marketing, strategy, business development, venture management, and investment areas. Most recently she was Vice President, Business Development and Licensing working with Care Capital in Princeton. Prior to Care Capital, Ms. Marino spent nine years at Bristol-Myers Squibb where she held positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President, Corporate Strategic Planning and Vice President, Sanofi Pharma Alliance. Ms. Marino also spent eight years at Merck in various business, strategic and corporate planning roles and has worked at Squibb and Winthrop Labs. Ms. Marino holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Merrimack College and an M.S. in Organic Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire.

THOMAS R. MORSE
Co-Founder & Principal, Liberty Venture Partners

Mr. Morse co-founded and serves as Principle of Liberty Venture Partners. In addition to his role on Othera’s board, Mr. Morse currently sits on the boards of two Liberty portfolio companies, MEDecision, Inc. and ANI Pharmaceuticals. He is also a member of the Visiting Nurse Society of Philadelphia Board of Trustees. Prior to founding Liberty Venture Partners, Mr. Morse was a partner at Philadelphia Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm. He received his Master’s in Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. from the U.S. Naval Academy. He has also earned the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (C.F.A).

HANS MUELLER, Ph.D.
Former Senior VP of Global Business Development, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals

Dr. Mueller is a Director of several private and public companies in addition to Othera, and currently provides consulting services to Biotech companies. He most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Global Business Development for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals from 1993 to 2004. Dr. Mueller brings a wealth of large pharmaceutical experience, especially in the areas of strategy, licensing, and collaboration. His prior employment included Sandoz, now known as Novartis, and Nova Pharmaceuticals Inc., now known as Scios Inc., which is part of Johnson & Johnson. Dr. Mueller received his Ph.D. in Actuarial Science and Mathematical Statistics. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program, was a lecturer at the University of Bern, Switzerland.

BRIAN G. MURPHY
General Partner of Commerce Health Ventures, General Partner of NewSpring Ventures, and a Partner of NewSpring Capital

Mr. Murphy is a General Partner of Commerce Health Ventures, General Partner of NewSpring Ventures, and a Partner of NewSpring Capital, with more than 20 years of corporate management and development experience, focused primarily in health care services. Prior to NewSpring, he founded Acquisition Management Services, Inc. (AMS), a diversified corporate development advisory firm focusing on middle market companies. He has also founded two venture-backed startups, WordWave, a legal court reporting and broadcast captioning leader which was sold to Merrill Corp., and Precyse Solutions, a provider of medical transcription and health information services to acute care hospitals. Previously, he held executive positions for several health care service companies, most notably NovaCare, Inc., Heritage Health Systems, and Partners National Health Plans. He is currently Chairman of the Board for RedPath Integrated Pathology and Habit Management and a Board member for TMG Health, CyberShift, RecoverCare, Othera Pharmaceuticals, and Nitric BioTherapeutics. He is also a Foundation Board Member of SUNY Cortland. He received a B.S. in science from the State University of New York at Cortland.
